Taipei City Government Reviewed New Illegal Construction in Accordance with the Report of the Audit Department: 309 Cases Will be RectifiedThe Taipei City Audit Department of the National Audit Office pointed out in its major review opinions of the “2015 Review Report of Taipei City Government’s Local General Financial Statement”, that the comparisons of the numeric maps of six administrative districts of Taipei City and other data, found 186 use permits with suspicious rooftop illegal construction, which should be reviewed and improved. According to the inspection results of Taipei City Construction Management Office, there are 175 use permits involving new illegal rooftop construction. On June 30, 2017, 309 cases of illegal construction inspection and reporting (including illegal construction of balconies, terraces, roof decks, etc.) were completed.According to the Office, for those 309 cases of new illegal construction that have been inspected, official letters will be sent to the owners of the illegal construction to request improvements by the specified time period after the process service has been completed; the cases will be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations of illegal construction. The owners of illegal construction shall not leave things to chance. Owners are expected to dismantle the illegal construction immediately, or the Office will do so at the respective owners’ expense.
