To improve awareness of residential fire safety and disaster prevention, the Taipei City Fire Department and the Development Association of Bade Electronics Shopping District Promotion Association will jointly hold the Zhongzheng District Disaster Prevention Fair, named “Bade Road Closure Survival Challenge and Whole-community Disaster Prevention” The event will feature various disaster prevention-themed educational booths at Bade Electronics Marketplace (Section 1, Bade Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, from Xinsheng South Road to Jinshan North Road) from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th, 2024.

Bade Electronics Marketplace is a must-visit destination to connect with cutting-edge technology, experience creative cultural exchanges, and engage with the local community. In addition to hosting road closure sales and esports performances, the Taipei City Fire Department has also set up a disaster prevention experience zone on site. This zone includes booths for downloading disaster prevention apps, advocating electrical (lithium battery) safety, providing CPR and AED operation experiences, offering drowning prevention knowledge, fire prevention, earthquake response, and more, allowing the public to experience and practice these skills.

According to statistics from the Taipei City Fire Department, a total of 1,268 fires occurred in 2023, resulting in 12 deaths and 48 injuries, with residential fires causing the highest number of casualties. The Taipei City Fire Department urges the public to pay attention to fire safety at home. Not only should you never leave cooking unattended, but when using electrical equipment, please follow the principle of "5 Don'ts and 1 Must": Do not exceed the electrical load, do not bundle or damage wires, do not leave power sockets plugged in when not in use, do not wet or stain plugs, do not place flammable materials near electricity, and must use products with qualified inspection labels.

For residential buildings with fewer than five floors in this city, residents should install "residential fire alarms" in their bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and other areas to alert occupants in the event of a fire. This will enable them to quickly evacuate, report the incident, and respond to the fire, thereby reducing casualties and property damage.

Additionally, as lithium batteries have become the main power storage devices in recent years for mobile devices, electronic products, and electric vehicles, their usage rate has increased significantly. Therefore, the Taipei City Fire Department specifically reminds the public that lithium battery products should be purchased with a qualified inspection label and used according to product instructions to avoid excessive charging, impact, or crushing to ensure safety.
