Taipei City Government “One-Stop Window Service for Construction Permits of Buildings below 5 stories (Warehousing/ Office Service)” ranked 7th in the rating of “Dealing with Construction Permits” by the World Bank Group
According to “2014 Doing Business” announced by the World Bank on Oct. 29th 2013, Taiwan was ranked 16th among the 189 entries; the Taipei City Government was ranked 7th in the category of “Dealing with Construction Permits” for the remarkable improvement measures taken by Department of Urban Development, Taipei City Construction Management Office, leading among other Asian countries like South Korea, Japan and Malaysia.In order to effectively improve our environment of doing business, the Taipei City Government has commenced a “One-Stop Service for Construction Permits of Warehousing Buildings” since March 1st, 2011 and later expanded into “One-Stop Window Service for Construction Permits of buildings below 5 stories (Warehousing/ Office Service)”. According to the ranking of a category of “Dealing with Construction Permits” by the World Bank's “2013 Doing Business”, the Taipei City Government advanced to 9th from 76th and successfully demonstrated the outcomes of simplified service process for construction permits after years of efforts.The “One-Stop Window Service for Construction Permits” has effectively integrated all the related public and private sectors. This year’s rating was especially focused on the buildings below 5-stories for the services of warehousing and offices. The Taipei City Government has aimed to offer a speedy application model different from any of the existing construction permit application mechanisms by stipulating operational procedures, simplifying application process and shortening review time. In this year, we have simplified the application procedures,aligned with the perspective of the World Bank, to shorten the process to 61 working days to complete all the review and registration works, starting from the application submission date and excluding construction days.The “2014 One-Stop Window Service for Construction Permits of buildings below 5 stories (Warehousing/ Office Service)” officially took effect on May 1st this year. It is believed that the simplification and acceleration of application procedures may effectively improve the environment of doing business in Taipei City and eventually turn it into a world-class commercial city in the near future.
