1. False advertising of “Shou-Shan” penalized by FTC and blacklisted by TCG
The building contractor and the advertising agency accused of false advertising in the project “Shou-Shan” were fined NTD 1,000,000 and NTD 550,000 by the Fair Trade Commission (FTC), Executive Yuan, respectively. The Taipei City Government (TCG) immediately assigned inspectors to check any evidence of parking spaces illegally used or changed in secondary construction and ensured all works conforming to drawings.According to Mr. Chang Kang-Wei, Director of Construction Management Office (CMO), ‘Shou-Shan’ (No.449, Chongyang Rd., Nangang Dist., Taipei City) is a 72-household building project including basements for parking spaces and ground buildings for IT services, and the building occupation permit was issued in May. The texts and pictures in the project’s advertising induced the general public to mistakenly regard the buildings as general residences, which should not be built in a ‘strategic industrial zone’, and made both the building contractor and the advertising agency penalized by FTC based on false advertising. ‘Shou-Shan’ was immediately investigated in the afternoon and blacklisted by CMO for aperiodic inspections despite no event such as changes of buildings without permission and illegal use, each of which would constitute an evidence to fine the offender NTD 60,000 and to restore the building or reapply.Mr. Chang emphasized CMO checked 9 of 14 non-residence buildings finished in the 5th readjustment area in Neihu, captured 6 buildings with their compartments illegally changed by proprietors, who were fined NTD 60,000 and ordered to recover buildings or reapply, and continued checking and tracking their corrections. The building contractor and the advertising agency penalized by FTC in ‘Shou-Shan’ which was blacklisted for aperiodic inspections will be penalized again in case of any illegal evidence.
