Application for 2014 Old Building Inspection in Taipei Commencing from April 1st
Continuing from the 100 cases for old building inspection last year, the Taipei City Government will be open to another 200 applications commencing from April 1st this year. Due to the limited availability, please apply as soon as possible.According to Bian, Tai-Ming, Director of the Department of Urban Development, the professional recommendations and inspection reports of the 100 cases of Old Building Inspection (including 136 buildings, 6,149 household units), had all been notified of the applicants for the following repairs or maintenance as well as further detailed inspections if necessary. Should there be any need for urban renewal, professional consultations and assistances shall be provided by the Taipei Urban Redevelopment Center. Moreover, Construction Management Office conducted questionnaire surveys on the applicants upon their receiving of the Old Building Inspection Reports; the results indicated that 87% of the respondents were satisfied.(while 4.6% were unsatisfied, 8.3% had no comments)Director Bian furthermore indicated that, due to the citizens’ request for their safety after the recent incidents of earthquakes, the Taipei City Government will continue to offer another 200 applications of the apartment buildings that are over 20-years-old, with more than half of the units as residential use confined within the shared areas and external walls. Starting from April 1st, the applications may be submitted with the relevant documents by the Building Management Committees or alternatively the residents’ representatives upon the agreement of more than half of the house owners in case of no such committee is established.According to Director Chang, Kang-Wei of the Construction Management Office, the applicants may download the forms from the Construction Management Office Website and submit the completed applications to the counter of the User Permit Section of the Construction Management Office; the application numbers will be issued to the applicants right away upon successful preliminary reviews. Due to the limited availability of 200 applications and in the principles of fairness and openness, no mail delivery will be accepted. The applications will then be processed with further reviews by the Construction Management Office; qualified applications will then be assigned to the authorized Inspection Organizations designated by the applicants. The application qualification for this year is open to the buildings that are over 20 years old. Due to the limited availability, please apply as soon as possible.So far, there are four Inspection Organizations authorized by the Dept. of Urban Development for the applicants’ designations, including the Taipei Architects Association, Taipei Professional Civil Engineers Association, Taipei Structure Engineering Association and National Institute of Building Technology.
