New name for Taipei City Building Administration Office on 16 February
The Taipei City Building Administration Office was officially renamed into the Taipei City Construction Management Office on 16 February 2012. On that day, Commissioner Yuh-chyurn Ding (丁育群) of the Department of Urban Planning presided over the opening ceremony. Director Rong-jing Wang of the former Taipei City Building Administration Office continued to head the Taipei City Construction Management Office.
After changing its name into the Taipei City Construction Management Office, the original structure consisting of six business sections and one team remained unchanged. However, to cope with the changes in the organizational title, the name, duty and functions of these sections and team were changed, including the Building Permit Administration Section which became the Building Permit Section, the Construction Administration Section became the “Building Inspection Section”, the Building Usage Administration become the User Permit Section, the Building Standard Administration Section became the “Building Standards Section” and the Apartment Building Management Section became the “Apartment Building Management Section” (only the Chinese title was changed).
According to Director Wang, urban construction is comprehensive and construction management is an important part of it. This is because all businesses of the office are related with the rights and benefits of citizens, public safety and the city’s appearance. Also, the quality improvement of the construction environment is an indispensable part of the overall future urban development of Taipei City. Because Taipei City is now on the road to becoming a new-age metropolis, the duties and functions of the Taipei City Construction Management Office have become even more important. In the future, the Taipei City Construction Management Office will continue to promote various businesses relating to construction management, hoping to enable Taipei City to develop and create a better urban landscape for its citizens to identify with and enjoy this city with a more effective and better-planned operational mechanism.
In order to promote the city’s sustainable development, after the re-assignment and renaming, the Taipei City Construction Management Office will continue to promote the arcade flattening, public safety inspection and accessibility improvement polices; organize excellent apartment building selection and apartment building regulation presentations, and help apartment building management committees in Taipei City to complete registration. Also, the office will continue to enforce the illegal signboard and abandoned signboard and support removal projects, simplify the application for signboard installation and signboard embellishment and replacement. In addition, we will aggressively enforce the Direction for Encouraging the Expansion of Indoor Parking Areas in Buildings for Public Use in Taipei City; reinforce the audit of the constructor and construction engineer employment status, organize presentations for construction management laws and regulations, enforce the demolition of illegal buildings for various TCG projects (e.g., sewerage connection project, parking tower project) and the compensation for the demolition of illegal buildings on government project sites and promote fencing greening and embellishment of construction sites.
The location of the Taipei City Construction Management Office remains unchanged. In the future, we will continue our efforts to carry out businesses related to construction management in Taipei City, in order to create a better urban landscape and high-quality living environment for the well-being of citizens.
