Tiding Interchange Northbound Ramp to National Highway Officially Opens Today (7/8) for Better Traffic Flow
A major step toward better traffic flow in Neihu—the newly constructed northbound on-ramp connecting Tiding Boulevard to National Freeway No. 1 was officially opened today, witnessed by Mayor Chiang Wan-An and esteemed guests concerned about Neihu’s matters. With this new route in place, road users traveling northbound via Tiding Boulevard will no longer need to merge with southbound traffic, detour around the Yangguang Pumping Station, or stop at Jiuzong Road. Instead, they can now make an earlier right turn onto Jiuzong Road, saving approximately 400 meters in travel distance and reducing travel time by about 4.5 minutes, thereby significantly alleviating traffic congestion. According to Chief Engineer Wu Zai-Qin of the New Construction Office, in line with the city government’s efforts to enhance overall traffic conditions in the Neihu Technology Park area, a new on-ramp has been constructed within the Neihu Sports Park to address congestion at the Tiding Boulevard connection to the northbound National Freeway No. 1. This newly added on-ramp merges directly onto Jiuzong Road, leading to the freeway entrance, significantly reducing travel distance and wait times. By enabling earlier traffic diversion from Tiding Boulevard, the new on-ramp allows vehicles to reach the freeway more efficiently. By reducing traffic on Tiding Boulevard, it is hoped that traffic will be dispersed to surrounding major roads to help ease existing congestion. Wu Zai-Qin added that in order to improve traffic conditions in the Neihu Technology Park area as early as possible, the construction team was fully mobilized to complete the project within approximately six months. The original slope was transformed into a nearly 250-meter-long road, completed on June 12, 2025. The project adopted methods that have low impacts on the ecology, including the establishment of stone revetment and the planting of shrubs as retaining structures, helping to preserve water resources while enhancing the roadside landscape. This approach balances driving safety with aesthetic appeal, creating a “breathing” green road. In terms of traffic facilities, safety direction signs and flexible delineator posts were installed at turns to assist drivers in adjusting to changes in road width. Additionally, deceleration markings were added at the exit connecting to Section 2, Jiuzong Road, to guide drivers to slow down, ensuring a safer passage for all road users. It is hoped that starting today, this brand-new road will serve as a catalyst for better traffic in the Neihu Technology Park area and provide road users with a more comfortable commuting experience!
